Week 23

It’s hard to believe we’re already at Week 23! 14 weeks ago we found out we were having twins… It’s amazing how much has changed since then.

The boys had another successful appointment today. Both had gained 4oz! Baby A is at 18oz and Baby B at 13oz. Still a large gap, but the most important thing is that they both keep growing, especially Baby B.

Baby A’s heart…. this has been a concern for the past few weeks. Because he’s the “recipient” baby, his heart is working a little extra hard. There was some regurgitation on the dopplar, but today it looked like that had healed itself! There is still some wall thickening on the heart, but the regurg is not there. Great news!

Baby B’s brain…. this has also been a big concern. Dr. Barsoom mentioned to us about 4 weeks ago that there was extra fluid in his brain. Well, every week since then our little fighter has proven he’s not going to let anything keep him down. The fluid level has been decreasing each week and now looks really good. Hopefully by the time the boys are born the fluid issue will be completely resolved.

Baby B’s bladder…. showing up! And looking great

Baby B’s umbilical cord…. this is the newest thing we’ll need to be watching every week. His cord isn’t attached in the “normal” spot, and thus he isn’t getting as much blood flow. It’s called Placental Insufficiency, so it actually has to do more with his placental share than his actual umbilical cord. That explains why he isn’t growing at the same rate as his brother. It’s definitely something we’ll need to keep our eyes on.

All in all, VERY positive appointment! There’s nothing that can be done about Baby B’s cord right now, so we’re just happy to know that they’re both growing and look very healthy. And VERY active, according to Dr. Barsoom, the sonographer, and ME! I’m not feeling specific kicks, but am definitely feeling them move all the time. ALL THE TIME 🙂  🙂  It’s the greatest feeling in the world.

Trish & Adam- Great to hear the good news once again for the boys! I’m surprised how much they both look like me when I was their age….I guess they are just lucky. I can’t stop laughing at the picture of Adam and Mya! Adam looks like a natural, but the scary part is that so does Mya. Please be sure to bring this device with you next week so Adam can take Roxy for a walk around the neighborhood. Looking forward to seeing you guys next week.

    Love,

    Grandpa O
