GREAT news! Yesterday the surgeon’s started pulling Sam’s drain out! And this morning, the surgeons mentioned to his nurse Kaylie that the drain may be out by the end of the week. This means… little Sam may start being fed breast milk again by the weekend. Little by little. The doctors will monitor how he takes the feeds very closely. Once he’s up to “full feeds”…. we can transfer him back to Bergan!
In other great news, Jack went up to full feeds yesterday! Because of the increased volume, the nurses warned us he will probably have a few more “brady’s”–too slow of a heart beat. Both boys have had this, and it’s just par for the course with premature babies. The neonatologist even told us that term babies probably have bradycardia episodes; they just don’t know about it because they’re not on 24-hour monitoring.
We are all moved in to our new room at Bergan! Little Jack is holding down the fort in his twin room, just waiting for Sam to come back. It is a gorgeous room. We just need to get it decorated a little bit.
Adam and I are holding up. I can’t lie and say we are doing great. Going back and forth between the boys is heartbreaking, but it doesn’t even compare to going home without them every night. We’ll get there though! It’s just very hard right now. Adam likes to joke that we have “24-hour daycare.” That’s our way of looking at it positively! 🙂

Hi Trish & Adam—Thanks for the new pictures and update–fun to see Sam’s eyes open!! Praying that all will go well this week and before you know it the boys will be back together in their new digs!! Sounds like a very nice room for all of you—are you able to decorate it for the holidays? That will be fun!!
