Unfortunately, we took a little step back this week… We went to our appointment at 8:00am and didn’t leave the doctor’s office until 10:30am.
To sum it up, the boys haven’t grown as much as the doctor would have liked, and it appears to be due to their lack of amniotic fluid. A few weeks ago, there was an excess of fluid, which Dr. Barsoom believed helped the boys grow more. For some unknown reason, this week there isn’t much fluid around either.
This is called intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), which, according to americanpregnancy.org, is “fetal weight that is below the 10th percentile for gestational age as determined through an ultrasound.” The boys have always been small, but tough to hear.
Dr. Barsoom then had me do a non-stress test (NST) and it showed really good fetal movement, which was a positive sign!
So… now I’ll be going to the doctor twice a week. Mondays for an NST and Thursdays for an NST and ultrasound.
We just have to keep praying and talking to the big guy every day! Making it to Week 34 is the goal right now. It was an emotional day for us. I think it was because we’d been having such great appointments the past few weeks, hearing that things weren’t improving was hard to take. But, we have faith that next week things will look up again!
The little guys just haven’t been photogenic lately, but here’s a few pictures…

Hey Trish & Adam:
Sorry to hear you didn’t get the news you were hoping for yesterday. Like you said it’s important that we all keep praying for those little guys. Keep your heads up and know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Shannon
Hi Trish and Adam –
The boys have been little fighters along this journey and they will continue to do so. We are keeping all of you in our prayers. Take care of yourselves. We love you!
Hi Trish & Adam: Just now was able to read your post as Elton had the computer with him all week in California. I’m sure this was a difficult appointment for you–just keep remembering how tough these little guys have been all along and know how many people are keeping all of you in their prayers each day. We will be waiting for your good news next week-sending lots of hugs and love your way…….
