Big Brothers

Guess which twins are going to be BIG BROTHERS in October?!?!

Yep… #3 is on the way! We are so, so excited. And I’m sure the boys are too (if they had any idea what it means).

As of today, I am 13 weeks, 1 day.  I had my second appointment today and the baby had a healthy heartbeat of 152! Unfortunately, I couldn’t hear it because Sam started crying the minute Dr. Evans turned the doppler on… Like my mom said, he’s jealous of  the new baby already 😉

Like last time, I feel great. No morning sickness, just very tired the first few weeks. But with 2 toddlers to take care of, naps don’t really get to happen. Also, still can’t stand the thought of chicken. Unless it’s boneless wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. Maybe my birthday post gave a little bit of my craving away? 🙂

It’s all more real now, so I’m going to post some of my thoughts from early on  in this pregnancy… Enjoy!

On Tuesday, Adam and I went to Target. While looking at swim diapers for S & J, I casually asked him, “Should I buy a test?” “Yes” was his immediate response. Having a doctor for your husband is freaky sometimes. He knew exactly what “test” I was referring to.

So off I go, having a bit of déjà vu.

Thirty minutes later, I’m in the bathroom at home. And three minutes after that….A big ole positive!

Yep, pregnant with Number THREE! Fertile Myrtle did it again 😉

We are so thrilled. But along with feeling ecstatic, Adam and I are both feeling overwhelmed, incredibly nervous, and I have to admit… I’ve cried a few times.

“What about Sam and Jack?” “Do you think they’re going to be mad at me?” “Three kids under 24-months… WTF?!” I cried to Adam in my overly-emotional state.

I can’t help but think (and hope) this is what all second, or third-time parents feel like when they get pregnant again. Incredibly happy, yet a big pause as you look at the faces of your current babies.

So here are the details:

Due date: October 7th

Gender: will be a surprise! Basically, Adam and I want this pregnancy to be entirely different from the last!

I’m only at Week 5 as I write this, and you know what else is funny? I have completely forgotten everything about being pregnant. Like peeing every 5 minutes. That’s annoying.

And I’ve also had to Google “Can I eat___ while pregnant?” a million times.

In all honesty, I think this will be incredibly awesome… For us, and the boys especially. Yes, I’m terrified. And I’m bound to cry a few hundred more times before this little one enters our world of chaos. But we’re ready. We kind of thrive on chaos anyway.

On Thursday (2.9.12) we told our parents we were preggers w/ #3! The boys were wearing shirts that said BIG BRO that I made. First, we Skyped with my parents and Krysta.

K and Mom–”What do their shirts say?”
Me–”Big Bro.”
K–”Huh?”
Mom–”No…!”
K–”Seriously!?!”

Dad–”I don’t get it.”
…lots of laughing, smiling, ‘Yes! We’re pregnant!”…

Side note… 20/20 hindsight, I really wish we had videotaped their reactions. Duh!

They are/were so excited. And it became more real finally telling people!

Adam’s mom was next on the list (his dad was working in MSP until middle of February). We did the same thing, Skyped with her and had the boys front and center for the big reveal. Well… it took a little longer! 🙂 She didn’t get how both boys could be Big Bro. I was laughing hysterically in the background, as Adam explained to her that there was only one way BOTH could be Big Bro’s. And then she about passed out. It was priceless! Again… a videotape of this would have been so much more fun!
We tried to FaceTime with Fred, but since he was working no luck. So I sent him a picture of the boys in their shirts while Adam was on the phone with him, and he didn’t get it at first either. Then he said, “Wait… are Congratulations in order?!”

Poor Paul was left out until Friday night as he had a law school thing Thursday night. Adam had to do the picture thing with him too, and he got it pretty quick!
Not being able to tell anyone else is killing me. Friday night I went to sushi with a few friends. They had invited me to a wine tasting before sushi, and I was able to avoid that one because Adam was still at work. And luckily all of the sushi we ordered was cooked, so I didn’t have to work too hard to avoid anything!

Side note #2… not drinking is really not fun this time. With the twins, I couldn’t have cared less about alcohol! This time… I was kind of loving my glass of wine every night. Kissing that goodbye was tough! But so worth it!!!

First appointment is March 2nd… It can’t come soon enough!

We had our first appointment today! So surreal… and it was such a weird feeling walking down those halls again. This time with S & J! Everything was great. The little bug was moving all over the place. So cute! Heart beat of 169. And only ONE babe!

While I’m still ridiculously nervous and scared, it was nothing like our first appointment last time. Nothing to freak out about, and no referrals to a Maternal Fetal Specialist. Have to admit… I’m really going to miss having an appointment every week. As stressful and scary as each appointment was last time, it was like a little reward seeing those two on the big screen. But, I guess this is what normal is… I’m ready for this! 🙂
