Exciting news!

Today was Sam’s First Day of School!!! Feeding school that is 🙂  Munroe-Meyer at UNMC has an amazing pediatric feeding disorders clinic and we are so thrilled that he has finally started the program. He was incredibly popular among the staff today. They don’t get many babies, and let’s face it… Sam’s incredibly cute (I will never get tired of hearing how adorable the twins are).

The program is pretty intense. Sam starts every day (M-F) at 9:00am, and is done at 5:00pm. Eight weeks long! Today, here was our breakdown:

9:00-9:25 Breakfast (we tried to bottle)
9:30-10:30 Tubefeed
10:15-11:15 Nap
11:30-11:55 Snack 1 (we tried rice cereal)
12:30-12:55 Lunch (tried rice cereal, green beans, peas, and squash)
1:30-1:55 Snack 2 (tried rice cereal, chicken, peaches, and potatoes)
1:30-2:30 Tubefeed
2:30-3:30 Nap
3:40-4:05 Snack 3 (tried rice cereal, green beans, peas, and squash)
4:25-4:50 Dinner (tried to bottle)

And… play time in between! Little man was EXHAUSTED. But, I’m so confident this will work, and he only got cranky with me once (the second time we tried to bottle–he hates it!).

Here’s a brochure if you’re interested.

I have to be there the first 3 days, and after that… I’ll leave my little guy there with his therapy team. Nanny Sarah and Jack will visit during the day of course, and I will try to get there as much as I can during lunch breaks.

We are so thankful this program exists in Omaha. Today I met families from Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin…. And we have it less than 10 minutes from our house.

On another side note—I got a promotion! I technically started my new job today (training). They were great and understood why I had to miss the first 3 days. But yes, exciting things happening in the Stibbe household! 🙂

I found your site trying to research Munroe-Meyer! We our bringing our son, Derek, on 8/5 for the initial evaluation and are hoping to be able to start the 8 week day program later this year. I hope they are successful for your son!

Wow that is pretty intense feeding schedule! I am amazed that such a school exists… I think I need something like that for Baron too cause he doesn’t eat at all… he is almost 13 months and only wants to be breastfed :/ with an occasional piece of fruit. Thank you for sharing 🙂 Good luck to Sam and congrats on your promotion! 🙂
