BaBy BoYs Week 19

Another HUGE sigh of relief today from the Stibbe family… Many of you know that the past 3 weeks have been a huge emotional roller-coaster for us. At our first appointment with the specialist, we found out the babies have Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (http://www.tttsfoundation.org/). It’s rare, and something we definitely did not want to hear… However, Dr. Barsoom was positive and told us our treatment options. At that appointment I had amnio fluid drawn- amniocentesis. Then it was a waiting game. At the second appointment Baby B looked so much healthier, but Dr. Barsoom wanted to draw more fluid. He drew less than the first time, which was a good sign.

TODAY was a great appointment- we found out Baby B had a lot more fluid around himself!!! That means I didn’t have to have more fluid drained (at least for today). Baby A was 8oz and Baby B was 6oz. This is still good news, because two weeks ago Baby A was 6oz and Baby B was 4oz. As long as they’re both gaining the same amount of weight from here on out, we’re very positive everything will be okay. The difference between them just needs to continue to lessen.

Adam and I have been so lucky to have the support of our family and friends during this time. Hearing that your high-risk pregnancy suddenly went to “very high-risk” is a sinking feeling. No one wants to hear that something is wrong with your baby, and we had two to worry about. However, we put our faith in God and in medicine, and things seem to be working themselves out.

To all of our friends and family…thank you so much for the calls, emails, snail mail, and prayers. It means the world to us to have you guys thinking and praying for us.
